A Rock Star for A Day
For one day I know what it feels like to be a celebrity. Not the kind that creates a frenzy of thoughtless screaming and reckless behavior. But the kind that stems from sincere appreciation and gratitude. And the fan base is made up of First through Fifth graders at Voyager Elementary School under the guidance of Principal Patty McClelland.
I am now an official member of Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students). My name around campus was affectionately just Watch Dog. My day started with a greeting from Chad Redinbo, Chief DOG who is spearheading the movement for Voyager. As we entered the training grounds of our future leaders, Nora Halsen and Lynn Tachell greeted me and gave me a hero’s welcome, other than fingerprinting me.

Courage Classic – 2011 wrap up
Thank you to all who contributed to this year’s Courage Classic. It was a most eventful 3 days. In fact, the rumor has it that my wife is considering next year’s event. Whoa! How exciting to have my wife ride the 174 miles as well.
Here’s a recap of the event. We set our alarm for 4:30 AM and went to bed around 10-ish. Just as Cheri started into a deep sleep, I was coughing like a mad man, and my phone rang. Our son Scott informed me he and the entire scout troop were returning home a day early from the high adventure. He wanted us to pick him up at midnight. He eventually made it home without our assistance.
Courage Classic – 2011
On August 6th, I start my climb over Snoqualmie, Blewitt, and Stevens Pass to raise money for abused
children at Mary Bridge Hospital. It’s our annual Courage Classic bike ride, a fund raiser that generates around $400k – $500k each year.
To learn more or make a contribution, you can visit my fundraising website.
Thank you.
Richard

The 19th Annual Courage Classic is over as we finished our ride early this afternoon. The ride is for the children. Specifically to raise money for the Mary Bridge Children Hospital: The child abuse section.
Thank you to those who contributed, I couldn’t have experienced the food, the pain, the heat, the cold, the fatigue, and the joy of helping the children without you.
SUMMARY

The ride is broken into three days and three mountain passes:
Day 1 Snoqualmie Pass
Day 2 Blewett Pass
Day 3 Stevens Pass
