Conflict vs. Contention

What Is The Difference Between Conflict And Contention

The very comparison of these words creates both conflict and contention. In many heart breaking coaching discussions, I’ve learned that having a clear understanding of these two contrasting words can bring peace of mind and warmth of heart to a relationship. But only when properly and harmoniously understood.

Conflict:

Conflict is sharing the same end result but seeing a different path. Conflict is necessary for progress. Conflict is healthy and sought for and it is to be resolved. Thus the very existence of conflict is a call for resolution and growth. Without conflict, we cannot grow, progress, eradicate mediocrity, and experience joy.

The Meaning of Success Part 1

By definition success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

It seems a social norm in our modern-day society is to inquire after the doings of those we meet. “So, what do you do for a living?”

When new neighbors move in, we inquire similarly. Sizing up neighbors, workmates, and new acquaintances seems to carry the requisite: “What does she do for a living?”

So why is work such a popular inquiry? It certainly has a long tradition. Even our names identify us. For example if your name is Smith, your ancestors worked with metals, the Taylors with textiles. Hammers worked for the Carpenters who worked for the Bridges.

Econ Update Sep. 13, 2010

After the recent 4-month rally in the Bond markets, which has led to some of the best home loan rates in history, money has started shifting over to the Stock market. Why has this happened? Some economic reports have been better than expected in the past few weeks… such as the Jobs Report for August and Consumer Confidence. While this is great news, it’s important to remember that good economic news – or as has happened recently, better than expected news – often causes investors to move their money out of the safe haven of Bonds to Stocks in the hopes of taking advantage of any gains.

Econ Update Sep. 7, 2010

For the past two weeks, it’s been pointed out that the Homebuyer Tax Credit has been harmful not helpful. No less than the New York Times is now singing the same tune, quoting a group of economists who call the Tax Credit an enormous waste.

We are at a point where the best medicine coming out of Washington would be no medicine. If our elected leaders would take a vacation for the next 12 months, odds are the economy would look better upon their return.
