Richard P. Himmer

Richard is an articulate and entertaining speaker. He can keep the attention of a Chamber luncheon and the focus of City Employees who are required to attend an all day training. He has a way to engage the most reluctant of people, but will be the first to offer those who don't want to learn an exit invitation.

One of his favorite sayings is that "the most productive space between two people is emotional intimacy." Richard can talk it as well as he can walk it. He loves people and can develop a deep level of trust and respect in a very short time.

Richard has a Bachelor's degree in International Relations after spending two years in Switzerland and Germany as a full-time missionary. Shortly after graduating with his BA, he married Cheri and they now have 5 boys, two granddaughters, and three daughters-in-law. Four of his boys are Eagle Scouts, with the remaining caboose, Samuel, a Cub Scout.

Long before his male-dominated offspring entered the picture, Richard was coaching little-league baseball and youth basketball. He has been in the coaching business since 1977 as a young kid in college.

With three boys in the fold, Richard completed his MBA degree from City University. He taught an early morning study class to 20+ high school students during his entire master's program. His ability to connect with the youth makes you think he's still a kid at heart.

Before any of his boys were ever Scouts, Richard volunteered as a leader and has been involved with Scouting for over 20 years. Hiking, camping, high adventures, and a lot of camp fire discussions about life and how to acquire happiness have molded his thought process about the ways of life. He has the ability to pin point causes and delegate the solutions to his students, boys, and scouts.

After a long career in the financial industry, Richard is following his passion of coaching. He has spent the past seven years travelling the United States and hiring over a dozen personal coaches to learn the skills of effective communication. He is a firm believer that if a person masters the skills of communicating, the awareness level associated with happiness and success will follow.

He has spent over a half million dollars in his quest to learn and develop the most productive and predictable system for interpersonal happiness available.
He is an International trainer with High Probability Selling and considers Jacques Werth, the founder of High Probability Selling one his key mentors along with Dr. Marshall Thurber.

He often speaks to assorted audiences, which include Financial Industry professionals, Women’s business groups, various civic organizations, religious organizations, youth groups, sports audiences, and as a motivational speaker on teaching techniques and communication.

He has a unique ability to take the complex and simplify it for his audience. He is an accomplished writer, has appeared as a guest on the radio, hosted his own radio show, and is currently a featured columnist in the Gig Harbor Life.

He has written three Himmer Primers on business, marriage, and business. He is almost finished with his book on effective communication skills. He is currently working on his Ph.D. at Walden University in Organizational Psychology.

He is the oldest of six children and was raised by his mother in San Diego, CA. His father was killed in Viet Nam when he was ten and he credits this as a major tipping point in his growth in systems creation, implementation, and financial awareness.

He is the proud father of 5 boys and 2 granddaughters, Abigail and Ellie Mae. He and his wife Cheri of 28 years can often be found dedicating their time to supporting and teaching local youth groups.
